Planning a smile makeover in Seoul: your consultation checklist

A useful smile makeover consultation starts with a specific question: what would you like to change, and what would you like to keep? Before choosing veneers, whitening or restorative treatment, make room to discuss both appearance and everyday comfort.

The short answer

A smile makeover is an individual plan for the appearance of your smile, rather than a single procedure. The plan may consider tooth colour, shape, alignment and existing restorations alongside oral health and comfort. Your examination and priorities determine which options are appropriate; there is no standard number of veneers or visits.

Describe your goals before choosing a procedure

Write down your two or three main concerns. You might notice an uneven edge in photographs, a shade difference between teeth, or discomfort when chewing. These are different starting points. A photograph can help communicate a preference, but it cannot show every detail a dentist needs to assess your teeth.

For example, “I want the front teeth to look more even but keep their character” gives the consultation a clearer direction than requesting a fixed number of veneers. Mention features you like, too. A smile makeover does not have to mean changing every visible tooth.

Compare options by the problem they address

Ask your dentist to explain which part of your concern each proposed treatment would address. Whitening, veneers, orthodontic treatment and restorative dentistry have different purposes. An examination is needed to decide which options are appropriate, including whether treatment is necessary at all.

Request a tooth-by-tooth explanation when a plan involves several restorations. Useful questions include: Which teeth need treatment for health or function? Which changes are elective? What alternatives could we discuss? What would happen if I chose to wait?

Bring your dental history into the conversation

Prepare a list of existing crowns, veneers, implants or previous orthodontic treatment. Bring available dental records and a current medication list. Describe any sensitivity, jaw discomfort or problems with previous dental work in your own words. You do not need to diagnose the cause before attending.

If you have a reference photograph, explain the detail you like rather than asking for an identical result. Ask how the proposed shade and proportions relate to your own teeth, and how you will discuss the plan before treatment begins.

Plan your Seoul visits around the agreed treatment

For an English consultation at lofi in Apgujeong, Gangnam, share your arrival and departure dates when requesting an appointment. Ask which visits are for assessment, which involve treatment and which are for checking the result. A travel itinerary alone cannot determine a suitable treatment schedule.

Before leaving the consultation, aim to have a written outline of the proposed steps, alternatives, maintenance and follow-up arrangements. If you live outside Korea, ask what information you should take to your dentist at home and whom to contact if a concern develops after your trip.

Frequently asked questions

Can I decide on a smile makeover from photos alone?

Photos are useful for explaining your goals. They do not replace an examination or establish the final treatment plan, number of visits or suitability of a procedure.

Do I need veneers on every front tooth?

Not automatically. The proposed number and type of restorations should follow an examination and discussion of your priorities.

What should I bring to the consultation?

Bring available dental records, your medication list, a description of your concerns and your travel dates if relevant.

Can I discuss the plan in English at lofi?

Yes. English consultation is available. Request an appointment and explain the questions you would like to discuss.
